The Food 4 All Food Pantry provides emergency food services on a weekly basis to individuals who resident in the City of Somerville and surrounding cities. We receive food donations from local food access organizations including the Greater Boston Food Bank, Food for Free, but also receive generous donations from local grocery stores, short-term food drives, and individuals within the community. Since 2005 we have been serving around 200 low income families weekly.

Hours of Operation

The F4A Food Pantry is currently open every Tuesday from 8:30am – 12:30 pm.and wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM Resident in the City of Somerville, Medford, and Cambridge MA .with proof of address (i.e. license, utility bill, pay stub) are eligible to shop at the pantry. New clients must register on-site with the food pantry coordinator to shop in the pantry and should present their F4A Food Pantry Membership Card at each distribution they attend. All clients are allowed to shop at the food pantry once per month. Clients are served on a first come, first serve basis, and are not allowed to assemble on F4A property before 10:00AM on distribution days.

Volunteer Opportunities

Open Pantry values the support from the community and welcomes individuals and groups to help at our programs. Periodically, volunteers are needed at our Emergency Food Pantry, Food 4 All , the People’s Center and our Holiday Meal Program.

We offer the following volunteer opportunities: Mondays, 9:30 am – 11:30 am, and Tuesdays, 8:00 – 9:30 am.
If you are interested in participating or have another service you would like to provide, please contact our food pantry coordinator by email or phone at 617-776-7515. We welcome academic and community service-related project ideas that are relevant to our food access services!
PLEASE NOTE: all recurring volunteers must complete a volunteer application and undergo a CORI check; however, recurring volunteers registered through Boston Cares do not need to complete this process through F4A as a CORI check is required to become a Boston Cares volunteer.

General Guidelines

8:30 -6:00pm
The F4A Food Pantry distributes food weekly from approximately 8:30am – 6:00pm. Every Tuesday. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the F4A Food Pantry (59 cross Street left side entrance) between 8:00am to receive a short orientation from our food pantry coordinator prior to serving pantry clients. Please be sure to knock loudly on the door so that you will be let in promptly!
Volunteers are paired with clients throughout the distribution and act as personal shoppers, loading up clients’ bags with chosen items. All distribution volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather as they may be in and out of doors when assisting clients with items; be sure to wear sneakers or work boots (no open-toed shoes or sandals, please). Volunteers should be able to comfortably lift at least 10 lbs. 16 years or older, please.


We are currently seeking out volunteers who are fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole for interpreter-related projects. Call (617-776-7515) or email the food pantry coordinator for more information on how you can help.
